A scent for every room in your home

A scent for every room in your home

Living room

Whether you’re hosting pizza and movie night with family or are having an overdue catch up with friends, you’ll often find that the living room is one room that generates the most traffic from people constantly wandering in and out. If this is the case in your home, you’ll want to create an atmosphere that your guests will feel comfortable in. Warm, homely and inviting fragrances - such as vanilla bean, honey and sandalwood - will always work well in making your guests feel at ease.

Bedroom

Our bedrooms are the place we go to relax and unwind every evening, so the candles, diffusers and room sprays we use there should always serve to encourage a sense of calm. When you’re tired from a busy day, gentle notes of lavender and chamomile will help you unwind by promoting sleepiness and serenity. Ensuring you are relaxed and ready for a good night’s sleep will help you wake up the next morning eager to tackle a new day!

Our in-store favourite: the ‘Lavender and Silk’ pure soy wax candle from Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. Handmade in the UK, this candle and all other items in the range are inspired by the living plants collection at Kew. Want the fragrance to last all day every day? Pick up the matching diffuser!

Bathroom

Ocean breeze, fresh linen and soft cotton fragrances are best suited to the bathroom as we generally tend to associate these scents with cleanliness and good hygiene. Scented candles and diffusers are an effective way of controlling and neutralising unpleasant odours without overpowering (it’s best to use light and airy fragrances in smaller rooms). If a quiet bath is part of your daily routine, a scented candle will help to recreate the spa experience at home by adding a little luxury and ambience. Soothing lavender notes are again a great option to aid sleepiness if you enjoy an evening bath before bed.

Kitchen

Introducing fragrance into a kitchen can be tricky business as aromas can often be masked or manipulated by the smells produced from everyday cooking and cleaning. Earthy and woody notes will find it difficult to compete in this environment, so if you’re in the market for a scented candle/diffuser for your kitchen, it’s best to stick to the fruit-based varieties that replicate the smells you would find in the air when baking a sweet pie (think apples and berries!).

Our in-store favourite: the ‘Elderflower and Apple Blossom’ pure soy wax candle from Mojo. Enjoy the uplifting scent of wild elderflower and crunchy crab apple for up to 60 hours - perfect for your kitchen space!

Home office

When productivity is running low and fatigue levels are at a high, invigorating scents will help to energise and motivate you to finish writing a report you’ve been delaying. Exhilarating peppermint or uplifting citrus scents are an excellent choice for any study or work environment because of their ability to stimulate. Take note: these fragrances are best used in personal spaces only as they can often be too sharp and overpowering for guests.
